About the event
Mel welcomes you to join her for a Pilates Fundamentals workshop. In this workshop she will explore and explain the principles of Pilates, experience a Pilates class to apply our learnings, and enjoy some refreshments.
This is ideal for those new to Pilates as well as our much-loved existing students who wish to learn more about our modern practice of mindful movement. The workshop will provide you with an understanding of the fundamentals of Pilates, including its origins, core principles, and the benefits of Pilates to both mind and body. You will learn the correct alignment, modifications, sequencing and breathing techniques to confidently take part in and enhance your movement.
Pilates is a holistic form of exercise that works both body and mind, focusing on the deep abdominal muscles which support and stabilise the spine whilst increasing mind-body awareness.
Working from the inside out, Pilates strengthens, elongates, and rebalances the body, bringing it into correct alignment, so that the muscular and skeletal systems can function optimally.
